Hello and welcome to my fundraising page!

A little bit about me: My name is Fatimah Hijjawi and I am a Palestinian who loves to run. 

My relationship with running began in March of 2020, when the pandemic kept us from one another. Running helped me make it through those long weeks of isolation and has been a permanent fixture in my life ever since.

With the love and support of my family and friends I ran my first marathon (the Philadelphia Marathon) in November of 2021. It is now my absolute pleasure to ask for your love and support once more as I tackle the iconic Chicago Marathon. 

A little bit about our cause: I couldn't be more excited to be running for Team Palestine this October. Team Palestine is raising funds for PCRF’s Gaza Pediatric Mental Health Initiative.

In 2014 Gaza was subjected to 55 days of bombardment from land, sea, and air, resulting in thousands of dead and injured civilians. The PCRF initiated a field study in which they found thousands of children suffering from high forms of stress and anxiety as a result of witnessing the violence firsthand. Since 2015, PCRF has been providing counseling and therapy to children in Gaza to help them overcome PTSD, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. The nonprofit also trains local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to help them better respond to this crisis facing children in Gaza.

A little bit about my ask:  Whether it is $5 or $500, my ask is that you contribute what you can to a cause that is near and dear to my heart and is one that is worthy of the world's attention.Your donation will help support the humanitarian needs of tens of thousands of Gaza’s children who have been psychologically traumatized from direct exposure to violence.
