September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we wanted to use this month as an opportunity to come together as a community to support children with cancer and the families by their side.
Cancer is devastating under any circumstances, but for children in Palestine, accessing the care they need can be an additional struggle. Around 210 children are diagnosed with cancer in Gaza every year, while the ongoing conflict has severely affected healthcare and pediatric cancer services. Gaza's only pediatric hospital and its pediatric cancer department were forced to close, and children with cancer have faced significant challenges accessing diagnosis and treatment, including care outside Gaza.
The Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) has worked for years to provide medical and humanitarian support to children in Palestine. Among its work is the Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir Pediatric Cancer Department, the only pediatric oncology department in the Gaza Strip.
This is a cause that is personal to many people in PiastriHive, and one that our community has rallied around before. We hope to come together once again to show our support for children and families facing cancer.
Our fundraising goal is $810. While the number itself is symbolic, the impact we can make together doesn't have to be. There is no donation too small, and no form of support insignificant. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this fundraiser can help it reach someone who can.
The fundraiser will remain open through the end of the year, so let's see what we can do together starting this September and carrying it forward in the months to come. ❤️
