Friends and Family,

Ramadan Mubarak! May this month be filled with blessings, happiness, and peace for you and your loved ones.

Besides being a month filled with prayers, fasting, and feasting, Ramadan is also a time for giving back, helping the less fortunate, and bringing out the generosity in everyone. In light of this, I have joined the PCRF's Gaza Orphans Sponsorship Project, which helps bring hope to little ones who have lost one or both of their parents. The PCRF's 2017 Ramadan Campaign is dedicated to benefiting the identified orphaned children in the Gaza Strip by providing them with some of life's most basic necessities such as food, clothing, and medicine. It costs $150 to sponsor one orphan for one month, or $1800 for one year.

This is one of my favorite PCRF initiatives, for a few reasons:

1. Although the focus of PCRF is always on all children, this campaign in particular focuses on the orphans.
2. I've met some of the children of Gaza and other places torn apart by war, and I've met many orphans. If there was a way I could help them all, I would.
3. Even though we cannot bring their parents back, this is a way for us to alleviate some of their loss and ongoing pain.
4. Muhammad (pbuh) is known to have said: "I and the one who looks after an orphan and provides for him will be like this in jenna," raising his middle and index fingers together.  

Because I was not able to launch my annual birthday campaign this year, and because you are all such amazing people who never let me down, I have decided to make my goal this year $3600. To break it down, that's $2600 for turning 26, and the typical $1000 goal for Ramadan. That will be enough to fully sponsor 2 orphans for an entire year. There is so much good in my friends and family - you prove to me time and time again that you are all so generous, and I am confident that you will help me exceed this goal inshallah.

GAZA ORPHAN SPONSORSHIP RAMADAN CAMPAIGN

In the summer of 2014, over 2,000 civilians were killed by air, land and sea assaults on the Gaza Strip, resulting in hundreds of orphaned children. In response to this crisis, the PCRF established a new humanitarian program to ensure that the livelihood of these children are being met. Our team of field workers will ensure that each sponsored child has their specific needs met by providing them food, or other non-political, humanitarian aid.

This Ramadan, your charity can be more than just a donation. By donating any amount, you can ensure that our orphan sponsorship program is sustainable for years to come, and can provide for countless children throughout their lives.

We hope in some way to help heal the wounds of war and occupation for these poor children, and to let them know that they are not forgotten.
