Why I'm running

About a year and a half ago I started running, something I never envisioned I would have an interest in or ever take up.  I started running as an outlet for much of the stresses that come with life, especially in my chosen field of work. Over the course of the last 18 months, I have logged a few thousand miles, burned through a half dozen pair of shoes and transformed my life in a way I didn't think was possible.  Best of all, my running journey has inspired others to take an interest in looking at ways to incorporate workouts into their daily life.

I realize how fortunate I am to be able to run and do many of the things that some may never have the opportunity to do.  That inspired me to sign up to run the Chicago Marathon (26.2 Miles) this year with Team Palestine, raising funds for the Palestine Children Relief Fund. The Palestine Children's Relief Fund was established in 1992 by a group of concerned humanitarians in the United States to bring injured and sick children for free medical care they could not get locally. Since 1992, they have sent thousands of sick and injured children for free medical care, as well as sponsored hundreds of volunteer medical teams from all over the world to treat tens of thousands of sick and injured youths in local hospitals. PCRF has also built two pediatric cancer departments in Palestine and has several more major programs and projects taking place to help support the development of a sustainable health-care system.

So I'm doing a different type of running, not for any public office --- but to help treat and provide much needed medical care for the children in Palestine. I'm hoping you will support my Chicago Marathon journey with a contribution of $50, $100 or $250 or more to help me reach my goal of $50,000. All contributions are tax deductible.

Training for the marathon isn't easy, it requires a great deal of discipline and time. Running long distances in the cold, heat and rain can be brutal, coupled with life's challenges --- trust me, I've wanted to give up a few times -- but my commitment to the Team and the reminder of who will benefit has inspired me to keep training to put me in the best possible position to finish this race. The Team has a saying "Every mile saves a child", and I'm hoping to cross the finishline on October 13th, and raising enough money to save the lives of a few children.

Thank you for your support,

Hanah

ABOUT TP4PCRF - BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON: OCTOBER 13, 2019
ABOUT TP4PCRF - BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON: OCTOBER 13, 2019
For 10 years, Team Palestine for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (TP4PCRF) has participated as a force that runs the Bank of America Chicago Marathon to help raise funds for various projects and centers to help children in Palestine and the Middle East. TP4PCRF runs because #everymilesavesachild. This year, we are running to help establish a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Ramallah, Palestine. With the PICU, children will be able to receive the adequate care they will need in dire situations. Runners from all over the world join together in Chicago to create awareness and celebrate their fundraising accomplishments by running 26.2 miles.

The PCRF was established in 1991 to help address the medical and humanitarian crisis facing Palestinian youth in the Middle East and has become the largest provider of free, specialized surgical care to all children regardless of their race, religion or ethnic background. The PCRF has been awarded the top 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for fiscal management, while being able to treat more kids than any other charity in the Middle East and is 501(c)3 tax exempt.  Please visit www.pcrf.net and www.teampalestine.com for more information on PCRF and Team Palestine for PCRF.
