In 2019 I will be running the Chicago Marathon with Team Palestine for PCRF (The Palestine Children Relief Fund).
Why is PCRF so dear to me? Because no kid should ever endure cancer treatment without the parents by their side. Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are required to apply for travel permits issued by the Israeli authorities so they can get from one place to another. That means if your kid needs to go to another city for cancer treatment, the parents need a permit to accompany the kid. It is not a given those permits are granted and many times the kids have to travel with a relative or a neighbor.
Before you decide to donate, please walk for a minute in the shoes of a kid diagnosed with cancer going through chemotherapy and not having their mom by their side. Hospitals are scary enough for children. Think about how much more scary they become when you are alone. Put yourself in the mother's situation. Many of you are mothers and would never let their kids go alone to the doctor yet Palestinian mothers have no other choice.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal so no kid will have to travel to another city and endure cancer treatment without the care and love of their mother by their side.

dieses Jahr werde ich den Chicago Marathon für Team Palestine for PCRF (The Palestine Children Relief Fund) laufen.
Warum ich für PCRF laufe? Weil kein Kind sollte die Chemotherapie ohne seine Eltern an seiner Seite durchmachen müssen. Eltern von krebskranken Kindern in Gaza und dem Westjordanland benötigen eine Reiseerlaubnis von der Israelischen Regierung, um zwischen den Palästinensischen Gebieten reisen zu dürfen. Oft bekommen die Eltern diese Erlaubnis nicht und die kleinen Patienten werden dann von älteren Familienangehörigen oder Nachbarn begleitet.
Bevor Ihr Euch zu einer Spende entscheidet, stellt Euch vor wie es für Euch wäre, Euer krankes Kind nicht bei der Behandlung begleiten zu dürfen. Stellt Euch vor, was es für ein zusätzliches Trauma für das Kind bedeutet, die Mama nicht zur Seite zu haben. Viele von uns würden niemals ihr Kind alleine zum Arzt gehen lassen. Palästinensische Mütter haben diese Wahl nicht. Sie müssen, wenn ihnen die Reiseerlaubnis verweigert wird.
Bitte helft mir mein Spendenziel zu erreichen. Kein Kind sollte eine Chemotherapie ohne die Mama an seiner Seite durchstehen müssen. Heute mehr den je, wird deine Spende, so groß oder so klein sie auch sein möge, eine große Wirkung haben - insbesondere weil die Vereinigten Staaten die humanitäre Hilfe an Palästina gestrichen haben.
PCRF ist eine wohltätige Einrichtung, die kranken Kindern im Nahen und Mittleren Osten unabhängig von Herkunft oder Religion hilft.
