This year I plan to run my second Chicago Marathon on October 10th. About two and a half years ago I started running, something I never envisioned I would have an interest in or ever take up. I started running as an outlet for much of the stresses that come with life, especially in my chosen field of work. The difference between my first marathon and now, is life was a whole lot different in 2019. This year, we all faced many challenges with the pandemic, and me personally with managing all that life throws your way. I debated running this year, but decided I needed to for so many reasons including raising awareness and support for Palestine Children Relief. So here I am, diving into a marathon without fully completing an 18 week training program.
I realize how fortunate I am to be able to run and do many of the things that some may never have the opportunity to do. That inspired me to sign up to run the Chicago Marathon (26.2 Miles) in 2019 with Team Palestine. The Palestine Children's Relief Fund was established in 1992 by a group of concerned humanitarians in the United States to bring injured and sick children for free medical care they could not get locally. Since 1992, they have sent thousands of sick and injured children for free medical care, as well as sponsored hundreds of volunteer medical teams from all over the world to treat tens of thousands of sick and injured youths in local hospitals. PCRF has also built two pediatric cancer departments in Palestine and has several more major programs and projects taking place to help support the development of a sustainable health-care system.
So I'm doing a different type of running, not for any public office --- but to help treat and provide much needed medical care for the children in Palestine. I'm hoping you will support my Chicago Marathon journey with a contribution of $50, $100 or $250 or more to help me reach my goal of $5,000. All contributions are tax deductible.
Training for the marathon isn't easy, it requires a great deal of discipline and time. Running long distances in the cold, heat and rain can be brutal, coupled with life's challenges The Team has a saying "Every mile saves a child", and I'm hoping to cross the finishline on October 10th, and raising enough money to save the lives of a few children.
Thank you for your support,
Hanah
