This year I plan to run my second Chicago Marathon on October 10th. About two and a half years ago I started running, something I never envisioned I would have an interest in or ever take up.  I started running as an outlet for much of the stresses that come with life, especially in my chosen field of work. The difference between my first marathon and now, is life was a whole lot different in 2019.  This year, we all faced many challenges with the pandemic, and me personally with managing all that life throws your way. I debated running this year, but decided I needed to for so many reasons including raising awareness and support for Palestine Children Relief. So here I am, diving into a marathon without fully completing an 18 week training program.

I realize how fortunate I am to be able to run and do many of the things that some may never have the opportunity to do.  That inspired me to sign up to run the Chicago Marathon (26.2 Miles) in 2019 with Team Palestine. The Palestine Children's Relief Fund was established in 1992 by a group of concerned humanitarians in the United States to bring injured and sick children for free medical care they could not get locally. Since 1992, they have sent thousands of sick and injured children for free medical care, as well as sponsored hundreds of volunteer medical teams from all over the world to treat tens of thousands of sick and injured youths in local hospitals. PCRF has also built two pediatric cancer departments in Palestine and has several more major programs and projects taking place to help support the development of a sustainable health-care system.

So I'm doing a different type of running, not for any public office --- but to help treat and provide much needed medical care for the children in Palestine. I'm hoping you will support my Chicago Marathon journey with a contribution of $50, $100 or $250 or more to help me reach my goal of $5,000. All contributions are tax deductible.

Training for the marathon isn't easy, it requires a great deal of discipline and time. Running long distances in the cold, heat and rain can be brutal, coupled with life's challenges The Team has a saying "Every mile saves a child", and I'm hoping to cross the finishline on October 10th, and raising enough money to save the lives of a few children.

Thank you for your support,

Hanah

ABOUT TP4PCRF Chicago Marathon 2021 - Safad Hospital

TP4PCRF Chicago Marathon 2021 - Safad Hospital

Join Team Palestine for PCRF on Sunday October 10th to run in the streets of Chicago for the 43rd Bank of America Chicago Marathon. This will be Team Palestine’s 12th straight year participating in the Chicago Marathon, raising funds and awareness to provide medical and humanitarian relief to children throughout the Levant, regardless of their nationality, politics or religion.

For the 2021 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Team Palestine will raise funds for the Safad Hospital in Baddawi Refugee Camp in Lebanon.  Help us support the humanitarian needs of tens of thousands of Palestinian and Syrian refugees in northern Lebanon by providing much-need medical equipment to open the new facility. Located in the Baddawi refugee camp near Tripoli, funds raised will help provide equipment for three operating theaters, a recovery room, an ICU, and an intensive care unit for neonates. Health services for refugees in Lebanon are impacted by poverty, the continued statelessness of the Palestinian population in Lebanon, as well as the deterioration of the economy, and the Covid-19 pandemic. These factors have all continued to grave humanitarian crises in Lebanon's refugee camps. The goal of this humanitarian project is to ensure that refugees have access to health care despite these challenges.

Not only will you help raise the desperately needed funds and awareness for the sick and suffering refugees, you will be participating in one of the world's top 6 marathons. On race day, 45,000 runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries will set out to accomplish a personal dream by reaching the finish line in Grant Park, with over a million spectators cheering you on!

If you are a beginner or veteran runner, Team Palestine’s certified coach will help you get across the finish line and achieve your personal goals. There will also be group runs in the Chicagoland area to push you to race day.
