Hello everybody! I am excited to announce that on October 9th, I will be running the Chicago Marathon for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF)! I am thrilled to be running alongside Team Palestine in support of providing free medical care to children in the Middle East. This year's marathon proceeds will go towards the Gaza Pediatric Mental Health Initiative, which was "organized as an early response to the war in 2014, when tens of thousands of Gaza children were psychologically traumatized from direct exposure to violence." - PCRF.
Since then, children in Gaza, who account for over 50% of the population, have been subjected to countless forms of psychological trauma, including direct attacks from occupation forces, aerial bombardments of towns and villages, and the effects of living in an open-air prison with little infastructure. The Gaza Pediatric Mental Health Initiative provides individial and group therapy, medications, summer camps, and other activities to assist psychological treatment for the children of Gaza. Your donations will go directly towards running this critical project.
The PCRF is certified non-profit, non-political organization dedicated to providing specialized treatment to children throughout the Middle East, as well as training doctors and finding ways to create long-term solutions to improve healthcare in the ME. Learn more here.
My fundraising goal for this marathon is $1,750! There is no donation too small; every dollar helps in getting a child medical care. Even if you cannot donate, I ask that you read and learn about what is going on in Palestine. Below are some links to begin your reading.
