I am so happy to share that I am running the Chicago Marathon this October! While I have completed a few half marathons, I have never run a full marathon! I am so eager to train and push myself to a level I never thought I was capable of reaching.
I am even more happy to announce I am running this marathon with the Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF). I have committed myself to raising $2,000 for PCRF. I hope you can join me on this journey.
These 26.2 miles mean a lot to me. Not only is this the first marathon I've ever run, but it's also for a beautiful people who have continued to shine and love and inspire in spite of living under a brutal miltary regime. Everyone deserves not only life, but to live a life with dignity. PCRF aims to ensure Palestinian children get just that. For thirty-years, PCRF has grown into one of the main grassroots nonprofit organizations in the world providing free medical and other humanitarian aid for thousands of sick and injured children throughout the Middle East, regardless of their religion or nationality. #TeamPalestine for Chicago's 2023 Marathon will aim to build a Catheter Lab System for the Cardiology Department in European Gaza Hospital in South Gaza. This project has three goals:
- to improve the care provided for the pediatric and adult cardiac patients;
- to develop and improve the cardiac department at the European Gaza Hospital in South Gaza;
- and to facilitate the cardiac missions that are hosted at the European Gaza Hospital in South Gaza and sponsored by the PCRF.
PCRF has the reputation of being one of the most respected and successful medical relief organizations working in the Middle East. For ten straight years, PCRF has received Charity Navigators’ coveted 4-star rating, demonstrating strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. Only 3% of charities evaluated have received this rating! Anyone who donates should feel confident that their contribution is going directly to medical humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
My ask is simple: give what you can. And if you can't give, there are so many other ways to continue PCRF's mission. Share, march, campaign. Keep putting one step, and one mile forward for #TeamPalestine. I promise you I won't stop, either.
