TP4PCRF Cape Town takes "The Grind"

What you find in Gaza, the West Bank and elsewhere, including Jerusalem, is far beyond the characterization of the South African struggle. This is our time as a unit to give back to the children of Palestine who are in dire need of our support.

Our mission is to raise funds for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. We are a group of dedicated sportsmen and women participating in various events with the ultimate goal of raising these much needed funds. While we may not be able to hange the political climate in the Middle East, we are unstoppable in our efforts to help these children, many of who are orphaned.

One of the major projects we now raise awareness and funds for is the Dr. Musa and Suhaila Nasir Gaza Paediatric Cancer Department. The need for building a Hermatology/Oncology Department on the Gaza strip stems from 2 basic factors:

  1. Medical - there are hundreds of Palestinian children in Gaza that suffer from cancer and blood diseases and don't have adequate services available to fight this disease locally.

  2. Political - the siege on Gaza has prevented several children from travelling to areas where services and treatment are available.

PCRF has a proven track record, having built The Huda Al-Masri Paediatric Cancer Department in Beit Jala hospital in the Westbank in 2013. In addition to medical support PCRF aims to provide social support, to show the people of Gaza that they are not forgotten and that their children deserve the same treatment and care as anyone else in the world.

Team Palestine for PCRF in Cape Town includes individuals from several popular sports clubs such as ARD, Central Athletics, Itheko and Ommiedraai Friends AC.

In addition to championing the cause through sport, the PCRF Cape Town Chapter has taken on the initiative to located doctors in South Africa who were willing to operate on and treat children on a charitable basis.

ABOUT Urgent Call for Support: Building Gaza’s first and only public pediatric cancer dept.

The PCRF is pleased to announce the launching of a new project to build Gaza’s first and only public pediatric oncology/hematology department at the Pediatric Specialized Hospital in Gaza City.  Hundreds of children in Gaza suffer from many different forms of cancer and suffer not only from the disease, but the restrictions on their movement for treatment outside of Gaza due to the Israeli and Egyptian-imposed sieges, as well as a lack of medicine and services within Gaza.  Our goal is to emulate the building of the Huda Al Masri Pediatric Cancer Dept. in Beit Jala Hospital, which we built and opened in April, 2013, and is now a center of excellence for children in the West Bank.   This is a completely privately funded project that will not only save the lives of children in Gaza and reduce their hardship and the suffering of their families, but also save millions of dollars a year for the Ministry of Health, who are referring patients outside for care that should be available locally.  We ask you to join in this effort to support our effort to show love and compassion for our children in Gaza.
