I'm running in the Tar Heel 10 Miler on April 23, 2016 to raise awareness and fundraise for children in the middle east who don't have access to health services they need. The children and I would really appreciate your support!
I am running for cancer research with this race and the children of Palestine with this team, but am motivated by Razan Abu-Salha. I regrettably never got to meet her, but she has inspired me to accomplish things I never thought were possible. Last year, I completed my first half-marathon in her memory, and will run my second next week for another race. She has inspired me to combine my love for running with my passion to help others through charity in this wonderful fundraiser. Although she was younger than me, she was much wiser.
Where The Money Goes:
Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) is a registered non-political, non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization dedicated to healing the wounds of war, occupation and poverty for children in the Middle East, regardless of their nationality, religion, race or gender. The amount fundraised will go towards 1) sending volunteer teams of surgeons and other medical personnel to treat patients and train professionals at local hospitals in the Middle East, 2) providing specialized medical care for sick and injured children in the Middle East by arranging cost-free treatment for them abroad*, 3) establishing and maintaining humanitarian aid projects--some of which have been summer camps, building a hospital, distributing food, milk, winter clothes, shoes, wheelchairs and eye glasses, installing hearing aids, etc. For more information on PCRF, please visit: http://www.pcrf.net/.
