Gaza war was the main event of 2024 (unfortunately it was a sad event 😔), many people around the world were emotionally affected by all the death, horror destruction, and pain that the people of that small spot were going through.

The horrible images and videos coming from Gaza put a moral obligation on us to take action, and the feelings, emotions of support and sympathy were the essence behind these actions. As result, we saw huge numbers of rallies, protests, boycotts, and of course donations and fundraisings.

Like many of you, I wanted to take action. And this fundraising campaign is my way of doing so.

So where does the name "webDev For Gaza" come from?

Well, here is the story behind it: I'm taking the course The Odin Project to learn more about building websites (since I have some ideas I want them to go live 😎).
In one practice project, we were asked to build a landing page that looks like this layout. while the directive is to build something as close as possible to the layout, we have the choice to pick content for our own 💫🌟.
So after hours of error and trial, I built the layout, put some random photos and a few words and I was about to launch it live and submit it for review 🕵️‍♂️🔍.
And just before doing so, I told myself: "It will go live, people gonna see it and maybe it could reach more people than I imagined, so why not put some real value and give it a soul to serve a good goal". So I held it back and I started thinking of good things that this page may serve, And while I was playing around with the page. I heard the good news about the Ceasefire agreement 🤲.

‘Eureka!’ ‘Eureka!’ That's it: I will build the page to help the people and children of Gaza 💪
And that is how "webDev For Gaza" was born (This is how I feel about it 😅)

Why the goal is 470k?

From the first day of war 07 October 2023 to 19 January 2025 when the ceasefire agreement was applied, the people of Gaza have been through 470 days of pain. 470 days of unimaginable cold, hunger, fear and frustration. So I wanted this 1000$ for each day to be a fraction of consolation, a pat on the shoulder of every Gazi, a microscopic gesture for not losing that fine line of hope when all the odds were against.

Do you think you could achieve this goal?

I don't know, to be honest, I just don't know, and I often ask myself the same question, but whenever it comes to my mind I just remember a beautiful vers of the Quran (surah 11, vers 88) that goes in line with this question:

 إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ
"I only intend reform to the best of my ability. My success comes only through Allah. In Him I trust and to Him I turn."

And who knows!! God has always more beautiful plans
